Everyone knows you can eat cheap tasty street food in Bangkok but suppose your culinary ambitions are a bit higher.
Suppose you want something made with higher quality and more expensive ingredients, prepared with a little bit more panache, and a with a bit more substance than a fried egg on top of some noodles with some low quality gristle passing as meat mixed in but you don’t want to lay down the big baht at a place like the Bolan.
Where can you go?
Try the White Bakery Restaurant.
Every Hi So Thai knows this place.
It’s a famous culinary destination although not well known among farang and foodies.
Inside its pretty modest.
Frankly it sort of looks like a mid-sized Starbucks back in The World.
There is a complete selection of cakes and pies that are tasty but these are not what draws people to the White Flower.
What makes the White Flower a culinary destination is the wide extensive Thai menu.
Here are a sampling of the dishes.
This is my favorite — Dendit mushrooms.
They’re mushrooms that taste savory and meatlike with a smoky flavor.
The menu runs for pages and pages and you could spend your whole 2 week vacation eating at the White Flower every night and never eating the same thing twice.
Thai girls are famous for ordering up a storm when taken to dinner.
Take them to the White Flower and let them go wild.
You’ll probably discover some Thai dishes you never knew existed, taste great, and which will become staples of your Thai restaurant routine in the future.
