My current camera equipment (updated 2-13-2010):
PORTABLE: Lumix Micro 4/3rds G1 Body . Lumix G 20mm f1.7 lens ASPH, Lumix G Vario 7-14mm f4.0 ASPH. http://bbkmirror.com/?p=6255. I recently dumped the point and shoots (gave my Lumix LX3 to my niece) and bought a micro-4.3rds body. This came with the fast prime 20mm f1.7 lens and I added the 7-14mm wide angle zoom. This kit is larger than a point a shoot but provides better low light performance and more versatility. It’s not up to DSLR standards but it is close in a much lighter package.
SLR: Nikon D300 with Nikon 18-200mm VR, Nikon 12-24mm DX,and Sigma 20MM f1.8 lenses. I recently upgraded my SLR from the Nikon D200. The D300 has a newer imaging chip with greater sensitivity. We will see how it performs and compares to the venerable D200. I thought about a full frame Nikon DSLR but the cost of the body and new lenses for the full size sensor was prohibitive. When I upgraded my DSLR body, I also upgraded my standard lens from the 18-135mm Nikor DX to the 18-200mm VR. Curious to see how the VR improves low light performance. Stay tuned for some pics soon.
STUDIO: 3 Elinchrom BX400 Monolights with 175cm Rotalux Octa box and 70 x70 Rotalux Square Recta lightboxes, Pocket wizards, Sekoninc L-758DR light meter. lightstands, etc. The Elinchroms are multivoltage so they can be used in 220V countries like Thailand and also in the 120V world.
